Croquet champions in the making

Who said Croquet is an old persons’ game? During 2019 our junior members proved otherwise.

In June at Colchester our youngest member Henry won the Golf Croquet ‘C’ level series (all ages) and thus qualified for the National Finals at Cheltenham where he turned in an impressive performance – well done Henry.

Albie and Eden played in the under 21 World GC Championships in Nottingham. Albie made it to the last 16.

Ryan, Eden and Albie won the National Schools AC championships and Albie came runner up in the Junior AC championships

Our seniors also performed well in 2019.

Phil Eardley captained Suffolk in the Inter Counties  Association Croquet doubles championships in Sussex in May.

David Wicks won a B level GC Tournament in Letchworth, an AC handicap tournament in Colchester. And came within a whisker of qualifying for the National B level finals.

Phil and David played for Suffolk in an East Anglian Short Croquet tournament played in doors at Soham this winter.

Ipswich won the Very Local League competition.
